Russian SURPAT, Woodland Pics 1

2 04 2010

For our first look at SURPAT (Survival Pattern) by the Russian firm Survival Corps, we’ve taken it out into the woods and got some shots of it next to a Propper Multicam shirt. We chose Multicam because it gives a good benchmark for comparison.

Looking at the pics you might think “hey, this is just a digi version of the old Austrian (spilt wine) pea pattern uniform”, but it’s not. Infact there’s no trace, not even a bit, of red, pink or purple. The base colour is a flat beige, with subdued green, brown and a small amount of black.  Here’s a swatch of the pattern, and this is exactly the same as in the bdu we have…

We thought at first that we had messed up with the camera and there was a colour cast added. If you look at the sky/trees you’ll see that that’s not the case. It just ‘picked up’ the surrounding colour of the vegatation, weird hur? We decided to go onto their site and have a look at their gallery, here’s some more pics of it in different area’s…

So this camo has a fair bit of “maskirovka” in it. The netural base lends it’self to many different types of area’s, and the subdued colours, with their large spacings compliment the overall effect. To be honest, we don’t really know for sure, but we do know it works.
